Largs lies on the Ayrshire coast of the Firth of Clyde, west of Kilbirnie and north of Fairlie. In the 19th century the town flourished as a seaside resort, with holiday-makers flocking to enjoy the pebble beaches and refreshments at cafes including the famous Nardini's. Largs is the port for the ferry serving Millport and the Great Cumbrae and the paddle steamer Waverley. The town hosts an annual Viking festival, marking the last invasion of the UK mainland in 1263. Today Largs remains a thriving community with a population of 11,241 and facilities including the Inverclyde National Sports Centre and a marina. s1largs.com has been developed to allow residents to share their news, views and opinions, publicise events and display photos and videos.
