Vik the Viking

  • Vik the Viking at Yuletide
Vik the Viking is the mascot of the Litter Free Largs Campaign, which was initiated in 2008 by two friends who saw a need to make people aware of the amount of litter and rubbish which was defacing our lovely seaside resort on the Ayrshire coast in Scotland. Click here to visit Vik’s website.

Bill Mutter says

I sympathise with your plight. I am a taxi driver from Greenock and on several days a week I am in Largs at 5am to pick up patients for IRH. The Seagulls take over the town and I have seen them drop into the bins to recover half finished suppers. The mess they make is unbelievable and when there is a wind blowing, the town looks like a bomb site with litter blown everywhere. Perhaps bins with returnable lids i.e. spring or weight loaded to close once used, would be one answer, but don't be too hard on the people.
