Work on Largs Traffic Management plan starts
1 Mar 2010In collaboration with North Ayrshire Council, Transport Scotland will implement the trunk road element of the Town Centre Traffic Management Plan. This will include a mini roundabout installed at Aitken Street and changes to the seafront car park entrance/exit.
At the same time, a worn section of the A78, between Gogo roundabout and Fort Street will be repaired. This Transport Scotland £250,000 regeneration is being delivered at the same time as the Local Authority Traffic Management Plan to minimise disruption to both road users and residents in Largs.
For the safety of both roads crews and road users, temporary traffic signals will be in operation for the duration of the three-week scheme. To minimise noise pollution, works will only be undertaken between the hours of 8am and 6pm.
Works will be delivered in short sections moving through the town with the A78 trunk road remaining open at all times, with the exception of one weekend when a closure will be required at the Gogo Street section. During this closure, a local diversion will be in operation which is expected to have minimal impact to road users.
