Exchange upgrade will mean faster broadband access for Largs
8 SeptemberFaster broadband services will be coming to Largs early next year, with the announcement that the local exchange is to be upgraded in the spring.
BT broadband has announced that its next round of upgrades, which will include the Largs exchange will bring speeds of up to 20Mb to local homes and businesses when the work is carried out in spring 2011.
More than 55% of the UK has already been enabled to receive the faster speeds - a figure that will be increased by a further 17% once the next batch of exchanges have been upgraded.
BT Wholesale is aiming to cover at 75% of the country with speeds of up to 20Mb broadband by early next year
BT began rolling out its BT Infinity fibre optic broadband packages in February this year, now offers speeds of up to 8Mb broadband, 20Mb and 40Mb broadband.
Michael Phillips, Broadbandchoices.co.uk product director, said: "As well as bringing faster speeds to BT customers, this will also allow other providers who use BT's network to offer their own users a broadband speed boost."
