PottersPool Champions Cup 2011
Dale Smith become the PottersPool champion for 2011 beating Stuart Kearney in the Champions Cup final 4-2. He gained entry to the finals night by being one of 17 players to win the weekly Thursday night competition throughout 2011. This included Alan McLeod who is a top 10 seed in Scotland and as a result represents his country. Furthermore, Alan also took part in the World Pool Championships this year, losing to the eventual winner in the Quarter finals. Qualifiers played group stages initially, filtering to Semi finals in an epic finals night on Sunday 22nd January and Dale was the last man standing out of all the previous champions for the year. As a result of winning, in true Champions League format, he gains automatic qualification to next year's Finals night as the defending champion. www.LargsWebsites.co.uk spokesman, who sponsor www.PottersPool.co.uk said "It was some accomplishment, as he provailed over the best of the best, some of whom are the top players in Largs, the West Coast of Scotland and even the World. The competition is growing in stature from week to week, year to year, under the superb guidance of David Kennedy (manager of Potters). There is a great regular competition every Thursday, team competitions, and the idea of the Champions Cup and the recently introduced Invitational Cup, convinced us that it was worth being associated with." This new trophy, the Invitiational Cup, is for those who didn't qualify for the Champions Cup, but are regulars at PottersPool. Ross Muir beat Stevie Walsh and as a result qualified for the Champions Cup the following week.
