Should we pick a Viking Queen or Viking King to replace the Brisbane Queen?
12 Feb 2010After a recent meeting of the Largs Viking Festival organisers, members of the public made calls for the introduction of a Viking Queen for the 30th anniversary celebrations of the Festival in September. This would be to replace the traditional Brisbane Queen event, not held for the last two years.
Viking Festival chairman Alex Gallagher told the Largs and Millport Weekly News that the organisers were looking at providing a bigger and better festival for the landmark celebration. He said the 'Viking queen' idea could be one way forward in raising the prestige of the event.
In response to this idea, Race Watson wrote in a letter to the Wee Paper this week that he thinks a Viking King would be different and "you would get larger crowds".
What do you think?
The 2010 Largs Viking Festival will run from 28 August to 5 September.
